During Wednesday March 22, our organizing team decided to invite some companies and organizations such as TIMBO or CADAM, who are main actors as investors and promoters of electric mobility in Paraguay.
We are extremely grateful to everyone, for the stellar presence of both public and private sector actors, taking into account the importance of uniting everyone in this challenge for Paraguay, to transform its automotive fleet to electric, thanks to the large number of renewable energies that we have.
On the other hand, this is a space for debates that served as a platform to support responsible institutions according to the laws and regulatory decrees. We believe that by involving everyone, we can offer an essential contribution to take the next steps, which range from the design of public policies to the implementation of infrastructure that will serve as a support for electric vehicles to circulate on our roads and municipalities.
The event was held within the framework of an electric mobility project developed by the Paraguayan Association of Renewable Energies (APER) and the Center for Management of Sustainable Technologies (CGTS), in conjunction with the National Commission for the Defense of Natural Resources (Conaderna ) and the Ministry of the Environment and Sustainable Development (Mades), with the participation of the entities MOPC, MIC, ANDE, STP and, PTI-ITAIPU, in addition to the important support of CADAM and companies in the sector, such as TIMBO, which supported us with a visit around the National Congress in his new electric bus.
With this, «we seek to know what the current state is at the country level regarding the implementation of electric transport,» said Liduvina Vera, general director of Conaderna, who highlighted the commitment that is being made in the sector. She pointed to the exchange of information regarding the current state of implementation of electric mobility in our country, within the framework of the application of Law No. 6925/22 «On incentives and promotion of electric transport in Paraguay.»
The outstanding points of the seminar workshop were given by the contribution of each one of the speakers, both anecdotally and technically, exposing experiences and methodologies that occurred in Paraguay and that can be replicated in the future in the country thanks to other regional projects. . The representative of UNEP-UNEP (United Nations for the Environment) Ph.D Ing. Luis Felipe Quirama Londoño and the representative of the Center for Sustainable Mobility (CMS), Mgtr. econ. Sebastián Galarza presented different paradigms and processes that are taking place in Latin America, including local experiences.

At the regional level, UNEP supports this transformation through the Center for Sustainable Mobility (CMS), establishing four support and investment platforms to create communities of practice and markets for electric mobility in Latin America and the Caribbean (CMS). At the global level, the Global Electric Mobility Program advocates for goals and policies in favor of electromobility and, together with the International Energy Agency (IEA), has established four global working groups to provide advice to policy-making and support national projects.
For almost 20 years, the Mario Molina Center has promoted the development of technologies and public policies that provide a solid foundation for the decarbonization of transport in Latin America and the Caribbean. In their firm commitment to the decarbonization of our region, they have wanted to evolve, deepen and focus this purpose even more with the Center for Sustainable Mobility (CMS), an NGO that was born under the umbrella of the Mario Molina Center.
The CMS acts with total independence and autonomy to generate links, networks and knowledge with all sectors of the Society, being a promoter of research and development in technologies and public policies focused on achieving the decarbonization of our transport. The Mario Molina Center continues to be a benchmark in the management of technological projects in transport and studies of air pollution and climate change.
Finally, Mr. Ing Ignacio Abud, a consultant with international experience, gave us a master-class on the various variants that any electromobility project must have, comparing the projects carried out in Mexico and Chile, making available not only the experience, but also the scientific and technician, which will be available to the Paraguayan actors.
We are extremely grateful to the institutions that have promoted us on their networks, including local media outlets that promoted the international event.
